OK so I actually throw two annual parties: Macapalooza each summer
and Heaven, Earth or Hell each winter.
Heaven, Earth or Hell started in the Winter of 2003 as a follow up to a
sort of impromptu get together I had with a bunch of friends. being the
single guy amongst the group they were all like "Hey Mac throw
another party at your place" (i.e. not at their place!). So I did. Jan/Feb
is the perfect time to throw a shin-dig in Upstate New York simply
because everyone has gone into "hibernation mode" and is starting to
fight a serious case of cabin fever.

Well the idea of the party is that as you arrive you draw out of hat and
are sent to either Heaven, Earth or Hell- thus the name. Once in a
room you can either win your up or lose you way down playing "3-Man"
(see below left)

Heaven: Halos, good beer, good food & good music
As you would expect, in Heaven you get the
best of everything: drinks, food, music etc...
You have a wide variety of beer, wine and
mixed drinks to choose from. Additionally
you have a good spread of food to choose
from and can listen to whatever music you
like. Finally since you are in Heaven,
everyone wears halos like you to the right.

completely over the top for
the party...and the Elvis figure
in the movie True Romance
came to mind...so I googled it
and bought it! It's become a
staple of both parties.

Earth: Hawaiian Shirt, keg beer, pizza & wings
OK so Earth, while not quite so slick as
Heaven, is still not bad. Everyone drinks keg
beer and for food you get pizza and wings.
The only music you get is what you can find
on the radio. Oh yeah...and everyone wears
Hawaiian shirts (which for some reason I own
like 40 of...not one of which cost more than
$10)

Hell: Genny Screamers & some great tunes
OK Hell...now we get to it. What you get to drink in
Hell is Genny Cream Ale (You may have to be
familiar with Upstate New York beer to appreciate
that!) For food there is bologna..and for music..oh
music...there is a mix of some the worst music I can
think of...and play it on a loop. Nothing like Genny
Cream Ale and listening to "We Built this City" over
and over again.
