Fenway Park August 17-18, 2006- Yankees/Red Sox w/Corey, Mike, Rob & friends
MACAPALOOZA: THE WEB SITE!
OK so here's the deal...bought 2 tix to see Yankees & Red Sox @ Fenway on May 2 but the
game was rained out and rescheduled as part of a double-header Fri Aug 17th.  So of course
since I had already Friday's tix...only made sense to get tix for Saturday as well!
So started off Friday by getting to the Cask-n-Flagon at 10:30 AM wearing my Mantle Jersey-
yeah took some grief for that!  Nothing quite like having your first beer at 10:30AM but wtf got
there early enough to snag a table.  Met Corey (my old college roomie) at 11 AM as well as
the lovely Samantha- our waitress, who was unlucky enough to deal with us for next two
days!  Plus crazy as it is- the guy at the door remembered me from when I was there in May.  I
get in there and they are playing the '04 ALCS on a loop!  Nice!
Mike met us there at noon and grabbed a few beers with us before Corey & I headed to the
game and left Mike with instructions to "hang onto this table until we get back". Classic
moment was DJ from WBCN saying as I walk by, "I wanna thank this guy for looking Boomer
Wells!"  Seats at game sucked but at least they also cost me a fortune.  Game was good
since Yankees won, however there was this 10 yr old kid with the most annoying, screechy
voice yelling "Hit a Hooome Ruuun" every time Yankees were up.  But Yankees won big 12-4.
Mike & Corey
Sam- not only gorgeous...but also very
patient...and from Idaho!  (1st person I've ever
met from Idaho)  Not a big fan of my jersey.
Cool places outside Fenway Park:
1. Fenway Park- Ballpark itself is just amazing.
Have not been to Wrigley but have to love a ballpark
built in 1912!  Love Yankee Stadium but since was
renovated in the 70s it feels more like a park built in
70s...Fenway is like going back in time.
3. Buckminster Hotel- Literally right across the street
from Fenway and a great bargain at $119 a night.
Nothing fancy but what do you really need?
2. Cask-n-Flagon- This place is to Fenway what
Stan's is to Yankee Stadium- except the CNF is
actually really nice inside!  Staff was great (and hot!)
and caught a ton of good-natured ball busting
wearing Yankee colors in there.  Lines look long but
move quickly- so its worth the wait.
So back to the Cask-n-Flagon we head and Mike still has the table and is shnockered!  he
had gone thru about 3-4 sets of tablemates while we are the game, including some guys he
did 3 shots with that lived in same apartment complex as him in Colorado.  Well when Corey
& got back we met Bridgette (who knew more baseball and could out-drink Mike), Jamie "aka
Silent Bob" (who looked like a sweet 16 yr old but who's favorite saying was 'It's like a sore
dick: you just can't beat it!), and Lisa aka "Snatch" who was very concerned she looked like
"Blossom".  (I still need to google that)  They were very impressed when Mike's teeth ended
up in my beer.  Plus we were reading some article about  unidentified "chupa-cabre" type
animal in Maine (
see here)  Anyways they were great gals and fun and went to second game.

Corey had to leave about that time to but Mike and I hung
tough (hung drunk!?)  Next on the 'Craig & Mike Variety Show"
were Meg & Theresa- two teachers.  In case you were
wondering: Middle School Spanish and Science.   The game
just went on forever and there were tons of drunks in the bar
and a couple of fights.  I got harassed, as did the girls, for
"fraternizing" with the enemy.  Mike left to go meet up with
some other SLU Boyz and I hung with Theresa.  I thought Meg
was gonna clock this one annoying Boston fan who was even
worst than the 10 yr kid with the screetchy voice.   Dude just
did not have a clue and even his friends were telling him he
was a moron.  Finally I was dying after having been drinking
for ohhh...say 14 straight hours...but just had to stay until the
end of the game.  Who could have guessed it would end up
being the longest 9 inning game in history!  Yanks won and
girls called asking me to meet them...but I was just
done...finally crashed at the hotel about 1:30 AM and Mike
stumbled in not long after.

Day 1: Double-header
Mike's teeth in
my beer: I made
him wait until I
finished my beer
until he got them
back!

Day 2: More of the same
Well Mike & I woke up super hungover as might have imagined with Mike proclaiming "I'm not
drinking at all today!"  I've heard that before...and it was actually true until we were back at
the Cask-n-Flagon at about 10:45 am and cracking out first beers of the day.  (What the hell is
wrong with us by the way?!)  Sam was outside so lucky for her she did not have to endure Mike
& I again!  So we snagged a place at the end of the bar and met a couple of Boston fans
named Gwen & Caryn and had beers and BSed with them.  Crayn somehow seems to have
managed to have gone to Aruba 5 times this year.  Later met some more folks before heading
into the game.  Also had a couple other friends at the game.

Seats were better than Friday afternoons- in right field up by Peskey's pole in foul territory.
My friend Nicole was in friggin front row by Yankee Dug Out! (She sucks)  Oddly enough I
ended up sitting 5 seats from my buddy Pat and his family.  Even better had a couple of face
painters right next to us- which made it all the more enjoyable as we kicked the crap out of
the Sox again!   Got our beers from the Roof Bar which was very cool, as was the standing
ovation ESPN's Peter Gammons.
Nice- can see the field!
I would be bummed if I painted my
face and lost 13-5!
After the game went back to our girl Sam but we're just too
friggin' beat to be too crazy.   Headed back to the hotel after
eating to get a much needed nap in the hotel.  Went fine until my
Canadian friend decided he could not sleep and started f'ing
with by trying to pull the old "shaving cream on the hand trick'.
Jackass!
My fraternity brother Rob met us out and we once again went
back to the cask and flagon.  Mike sallied out and went back to
the room to watch a little "Lifetime Channel" and Rob and I had
a few pints and were amazed at just how drunk people could get
and not fall over.  Finally decided to leave when it looked like
the Sox fan who our stools was holding up was about to puke all
over us!  I was in bed at a respectable 10:30- only twelve hours
of drinking Saturday!
Mike without his teeth but with a
nice pink tank top...
